About Us
Okoboji View opened for play in 1962 as a public course with members, leagues and open play. Okoboji View offers two signature holes: #13 is a par 3, 163 yds with a sloping green and british sand bunkers on both sides, #17 is a par 4, 427 yds with the last 100 yds uphill into a south prevailing breeze.
Okoboji View Golf Course is owned by three brothers, Curt, Steve and Dan Schnell. They have been in the golf business for a combined 85 years. Curt, the eldest, has been a PGA Golf Professional since 1981 and worked on a golf course throughout high school and college. Curt has been a 4-time Player of the Year in Iowa and Nebraska, as well as 4-time Teacher of the Year in Iowa and Nebraska. Steve, who serves as our club manager, has been a golf course superintendent since 1983 working at Okoboji View while in school and serving as Head Golf Course Superintendent at Sioux City Country Club for 10 years and Hillcrest Country Club in Yankton, SD for 12 years. The youngest brother Dan, our Golf Course Superintendent, also worked on a golf course throughout school. He has served as Head Golf Superintendent at Okoboji View, right out of school, Sanborn Golf & CC and at Meadowbrook Golf & CC, in Hartley, IA were he and his staff, which includes his wife, Jodi, were bestowed with the honor of the Iowa Golf Association's 9-Hole Golf Course of the Year.
Okoboji View, a public course, is a beautiful, tree lined, well manicured resort golf course. Although short in length by today's standards, it offers many challenges with fast greens, 42 bunkers and rolling hills. We have a wonderful, full-service lounge and grill overlooking the golf course and a limited view of the lake.
So, whether you need a golf lesson or a professional club-fitting, need to schedule your corporate golf outing or wedding reception or just want to putt on what we feel are the best greens in Iowa - Okoboji View Golf Course, a family run facility, is for you.
